Gentle Yoga - Uses gentle stretching and restorative postures to
lengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Breathing and concentration
techniques enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and nurture the body, mind,
and soul in a Christian environment. For all students, especially those
with limited movement. 75 minutes.
Yoga Basics - Teaches the basics of hatha yoga including proper
alignment in basic postures, breathing, and relaxation from a Christian
perspective. Gently lengthens muscles while building strength and flexibility
throughout the body. This weight-bearing practice also improves posture,
balance, and focus. Students are encouraged to go at their own pace and
modify postures as necessary. For beginners and experienced students.
75 minutes.
Yoga Level 2 (Intermediate) - Builds on the basics of yoga
with more challenging postures, including full inversions (upside-down
postures). Concentrates on flow to coordinate movement with the breath
for a more intense cardio workout with more emphasis on core strengthening
and flexibility. For experienced yoga students who have a good understanding
of correct body alignment in the basic postures. 75 minutes.
Restorative Yoga - Is "active relaxation." By supporting
the body with props, we will alternately stimulate and relax the body to
move toward balance. All restorative poses create specific physiological
responses which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related
disease. For all students. 75 minutes.
All Classes - Taught from a Christian perspective using Bible
scriptures to renew the mind as the body is being strengthened and restored.
Each class begins and ends with silent prayer and scripture meditation. |
- Arrive to class at least 5-10 minutes early.
The beginning of class
is the time to center and focus. Students arriving late are a distraction to
others as well as themselves.
- Wear comfortable fitted clothing that allows a full range of body movements.
- Avoid eating anything but a light snack two hours prior to class.
- Avoid wearing cologne, perfume, and heavily-scented lotions and
hair products.
- Yoga is an internal practice so chatting during class is minimal.
- Feel free to ask the instructor questions.
- Yoga is non-competitive. Relax and have fun!

How many places do you frequent that are quiet and restful
to your mind, that encourage you to come home to yourself? Most
places are just the opposite. They clamor for our attention and
bombard us with suggestions for our public life experience. Yet
Yoga is one place where the inner, private life experience is nourished. In
light of this truth, I offer these suggestions~
Yoga Etiquette to Enhance the Spiritual Element of Yoga~
- Allow yourself the joy and ease of arriving early. Savor
the few minutes before class to settle your soul.
- Set up your
space mindfully. Quietly unroll your mat with awareness. Think
of this gesture as inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit. Ask
him to join you. Try not to "pop" your mat, and be
mindful of those around you.
- Acquire a taste for silence. Be brave. Learn to feel
comfortable in the presence of others without using words. Save
catching up with friends for another time, a different space. Use your
yoga practice as an opportunity to tune in to the voice of the
Holy Spirit. "Be still and know that He is God."
- Honor the intentions of others. Yoga is an opportunity
to unwind, restore, and energize your inner self, a place to move,
pray, and meditate with your entire being. Let your
practice become a time to commune with yourself and with the Holy
Spirit, and allow others the freedom to do the same.
