Beginner Yoga – A 6-week series of classes offered periodically for the absolute beginner to yoga. This course will introduce you to the fundamental aspects of a yoga practice from poses to props. It will cover alignment, breathing, and concentration, and introduce techniques to strengthen muscles and bones, and to increase body awareness and flexibility. For those new to yoga. 75 minutes.
Level 1 Yoga – Applies all the technique and alignment principles of Level 1/2 but at a slower, gentler pace. This class will increase flexibility, balance and strength, and improve concentration. It will also enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and nurture the body, mind, and soul. For all students, especially those with limited movement or strength. 75 minutes.
Level 1/2 Yoga – An ongoing class that teaches the technique of hatha yoga including proper alignment in basic poses, breathing, and relaxation. This class will build strength, flexibility and body awareness. It is a weight-bearing practice that improves posture, balance, and focus, and introduces the principles of muscular and energetic energy. Students are encouraged to go at their own pace and modify postures as necessary. For 1) beginners who already have awareness of body alignment and control and 2) for experienced students who want to continue practicing the basics. 75 minutes.
Level 2 Yoga – Builds on the basics of yoga with more challenging postures, including full inversions and backbends. This class will concentrate on form and the more subtle aspects of alignment. We will coordinate movement with the breath, and muscular and energetic principles will be covered in more detail. Core strengthening and flexibility are emphasized. For experienced yoga students who have a good understanding of correct body alignment in the basic postures. 75 minutes.
Relax and Renew – This class is a combination of Gentle Yoga with an added emphasis on Restorative Yoga or "active relaxation." By supporting the body with props, we will alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance. All restorative poses create specific physiological responses which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related disease. For all students. 75 minutes.
All Classes – All New Day Yoga classes are taught from a Christian perspective using Bible scriptures to renew the mind as the body is being strengthened and restored. Each class begins and ends with silent prayer and scripture meditation.
