The New Day Yoga Immersion Retreats are designed for all levels of yoga students who are comfortable learning about yoga practices such as chakra study (the study of the energy centers in the body), mudras (hand gestures), asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), chanting (singing), and meditation (contemplative prayer). The heart of each retreat is one of the seven major energy centers in the body. We will explore God’s purpose for that particular aspect of our emotional and energetic being. The yoga postures, breathing techniques, chanting, mudras, and meditations that we practice will all enhance our experience and understanding of one particular chakra. Devotions, group discussions, creative workshops, nature walks, time for both solitude and companionship will be included. Each of the six Immersion Retreats stands alone and is a complete and unique experience separate from the others. The retreats may be attended in any order and as often as you like and will take you into a deeper relationship with Jesus as well as into a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
Come and see how powerful yoga can be when it is centered, grounded, and focused on becoming more like Jesus in every part of your body, mind, energy and spirit.
There are six Immersion Retreats available, with each beginning on a Monday at 3pm and ending on a Saturday at 2pm. Each Immersion offers 45 hours of guided instruction as well as time for personal study and reflection.

Dayna Gelinas, E-RYT 500, is the teacher and guide for each of the Immersion Retreats. For more information about her, please visit About Dayna.
Assisting Dayna is Lori Smith, E-RYT 200, RYT 500. Lori began practicing yoga in 2004 and through her yoga practice she began to experience an awareness of the Holy Spirit within her, and her relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ grew in a new way. Moving in an attitude of prayer and worship during the physical postures and breath work, her yoga practice fostered a quieting of her mind leading her into deeper intimacy with God and helping her find healing for the anxiety she had struggled with throughout her life. In 2006 Lori completed New Day Yoga’s first 200 Hour Teacher Training, and in May of 2013 Lori also successfully completed the New Day Yoga, Inc. 300 Hour Teacher Training Program. To remain connected with other practitioners and teachers of yoga from a Christian perspective, Lori has attended various retreats and classes at monasteries and Christian retreat centers in New Jersey, New York, Atlanta, and Cullman, Alabama. She has a passion to share this gift with others and is currently teaching weekly classes in churches and leading workshops and retreats in the Huntsville, Alabama, area.
One Final Note:
Although the Immersion Retreats will be comprehensive, detailed, thorough, and structured, they will also provide you with an ashram experience of sorts. The secluded location in the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman, Alabama invites introspection, peace, and rest. As with all New Day Yoga offerings, the Holy Spirit is always the honored and respected Guest who is invited to guide and direct us. You can expect God to touch you in a special way as we seek to understand more fully how "fearfully and wonderfully" we are made through the practice and study of Yoga from a Christian perspective.
